So, off I went a candling! W explained just what happens during the process. You comfortably lie down on the table. Soft music is on, a light blanket is placed over you if you need one. The room itself was conducive to eliciting relaxation. W placed a long conical candle into a flame and the top of the cone is lit. Smoke emits from the tapered bottom of the candle. The tapered end is then placed lightly into your ear canal. As the candle slowly burns, the ear canal fills with smoke and warms the canal causing the ear wax to melt and then be drawn up into the cone of the candle similar to a straw. Not only does it get out ear wax (there was a normal amount extracted from my ears) but also yeast that sits in the ear. (this I had a lot of). The session was very relaxing and calming. I drifted in and out of 'cat naps'. It lasted about an hour for the ear candling and then W did some reiki. I was so relaxed and then felt in such a light mood. Great for going grocery shopping! W did say I had relatively 'clean ears' since I didn't succumb to allergies. I won't need to have coning done but twice a year.
I came home and googled ear candling and came up with some history (ear candling goes back to Egyptian times) as well as the 'benefits' and risks (wich mostly revlove around burns....well yea!)While the benefits are not medically documented, people claim to have been cured from chronic ear infections, headaches, migraines. They say they help in body work in energy healing. I'm not certain about these claims as I had no complaints prior to having this done. But... I enjoyed the experience and would reccommend it.

Sounds...um...interesting. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I have always wanted to have that done...I think there is a woman near me who does it. Maybe I will look into it, or maybe I should just come and visit you and have it done with the person you recommend. Sorry that i have not been reading as frequently as I should!
